This was a wonderful experience, time to spend alone with yourself and to share a part of who you are for the overall well being of others is empowering. This is a beneficial practice for me who is a person who sometimes encounter depression when it is gloomy outside so it is a reminder that there is sunshine inside of me and we can spread this light to others in the world around us if we remain positive in nature. I would definitely recommend the exercise in Dacher book Integral Health: The Path to Human Flourishing that describes how to practice bringing thoughts of Loving Kindness in your mind for overall well being.
Concept of "mental workout"? What does the research indicate are the proven benefits of a mental workout? How can you implement mental workouts to foster your psychological health?
The concept of a mental workout is to use your mind and train it to stillness in a calm state that will bring the body physically to this state as well. Studies regarding this show that people on the outer side appear to be peaceful and serene as well on the inside. When they speak they speak in a calm way spreading words of wisdom for others to hear. I used to implement mental workouts on a regular basis and then as life caught up with me I did see a diminishing effect on my mental state. Like Dacher states we need to have daily practice and work out our minds just as we would in a physical sense. So from here on out I am going to appoint at least 5 minutes to start with and practice working with my mind. In the end this will be beneficial for me and my brain cells will remain strong, also my memory may increase over time. I will feel relieved, a little less stressed, feel empowered to share a positive frame of who I am with others and that will attract the results of love and kindness so that I can be open to receive this back in my life.
